It’s all about first this month, it being Spring (nearly, sortof, if you squint a little…) and all that jazz. New words, new music, new work, new messing around…and some of the very oldest and best as well. Come play with us?

and joining us on stage are….

Janice Galloway is one of Scotland’s finest writers and an internationally-acclaimed author of novels, short stories, poetry and non-fiction, collaborative works with sculptors, painters, musicians, typographers, photographers and videographers. Her recent collection of short-stories, Jellyfish, was shortlisted for a Saltire Society Literary Award 2015.

…STINA TWEEDDALE (Honeyblood, solo set)!

Despite their fledgling status and minimal setup, Honeyblood’s songs are fully formed and perfectly assured. With nothing extraneous, their music is driven through tightly-bound instrumentals and laced with the sheer strength and beauty of Stina’s voice. At First Editions, Stina will be performing a special solo set!

…LOUIE (Hector Bizerk)!

Widely recognised as one of Scotland’s finest hip-hop acts, Hector Bizerk’s importance to the Scottish music scene cannot be understated. For First Editions, front-man Louie presents a special spoken word set of poetry and lyrics!

“Jack of Diamonds is a chancer, a gambler, a troubadour and a liar. His songs careen from tears-in-your-shot- glass ballad to foot-stomping, floor shaking blues with plenty of bawdy stories, historical inaccuracies, and deadpan humour throughout. Sometimes he brings a special guest or two, sometimes he is alone armed with only a guitar and a suitcase full of songs that feel like they’ve travelled a long long way to get to your ears.” (Ryan Van Winkle)

Liam McCormick is a young poet and performer based in Glasgow. He was one of the BBC 1Xtra Words First Glasgow poets and was subsequently selected by BBC 1Xtra to represent the Glasgow scene, performing at The Roundhouse and on-air, and also gaining mentorship from Kate Tempest, George the Poet and Bohdan Piasecki from Jan – June 2016. He’s marvelous and we’re delighted to have Liam in one of his first full-length feature sets!

See you there, darlins? Ours is the first pour of a newly opened bottle of mint juleps.
