6 questions for…Liam McCormick!

‘I’m not weird you’re weird.’

Liam McCormick is a young poet and performer based in Glasgow. He was one of the BBC 1Xtra Words First Glasgow poets and was subsequently selected by BBC 1Xtra to represent the Glasgow scene, performing at The Roundhouse and on-air, and also gaining mentorship from Kate Tempest, George the Poet and Bohdan Piasecki from Jan – June 2016

Our Rally & Broad wunderwummin on the ground in Glasgow, Josephine Sillars, sat down with Liam to ask him some questions…

In the meantime, our intrepid wummin on the ground in Glasgow, Josephine Sillars, asked Malachy and Chrissy a few searching questions…

  1. I’m very excited to hear what your collaborative piece is. Without giving too much away, what can we expect to hear from you both?

Malachy: We’ve written a couple of songs together before, and we’ll probably be playing at least one of those on Sunday. Hopefully we’ll have a new song or two for the occasion as well

Chrissy: Harmonies and hooks, I hope. With minimal choruses.

The Hangover Special – The Story in Pics!

Did you know that there are only really 6 different types of hangover? According to PG Wodehouse, the inspiration behind our January raffles, these hangovers are The Atomic, The Comet, The Sewing Machine, The Cement Mixer, The Broken Compass and the dreaded Gremlin Boogie… This month we were all about curing these hangovers (both the emotional and physical ones) with two events featuring an array of top wordy and tuneful folk!

On Friday 22nd January, Broad and Rally wove separate tales of a bizarre night out… In Rally’s case, being ‘out’ meant being outside her own windows on some scaffolding, while Broad’s night involved trekking hills, and meeting some inspiring artsy types on her way to Leith… Two simultaneous performances in two separate rooms, The Bongo Club played host to a mad-cap tale that culminated in Broad and Rally finally meeting up and going off to see Be Charlotte in a great concluding set…. In Glasgow, we had a five-act stellar line-up on Sunday 24th Jan at Stereo. It was fun. See below! 😉

Coorie-In Land, Hogmanay 2016.

Rally & Broad were delighted to be curating one of the Scot:Lands venues for 1st January 2016. A wonderful – and free – series of events that run on the cold, dreich afternoon of the first day of the New Year, providing solace, shelter, and beautiful, uplifting music, poetry, dance, performance art and more to the good peoples of Edinburgh and further afield. We themed our ‘land’ as ‘Coorie-In Land’ celebrating all things cosy and warm. Hence the pyjamas…

Our artists for the afternoon included Maud the Moth, Colin McGuire, Rachel Amey, Billy Liar, Skye Reynolds, A New International (Biff Smith and Caroline Evens), Calum Rodger and Hailey Beavis.

Also performing although not pictured as they were doing sterling work out in the Cafe space were performance artists Rose Ruane and Rebecca Green.
